Drawing and Painting Classes with Mike Briscoe

Mike Briscoe is a well known local artist best known for his intimate oil studies of Venetian canals, historic façades, and lively café scenes with waiters at work.

Following a successful “introduction to watercolours” workshop at DAS in June, Mike has approached the Society to provide 6 weeks of drawing and painting classes on Wednesday mornings starting on 16th September. Further classes will be provided if there is sufficient interest.

As a guide Mike suggests that the first three weeks focus mainly on drawing covering perspective , composition, line and tonal work. Subjects can include interiors, still life, landscape and figures. The medium can be pencil, charcoal and pastel which provides a good lead into painting with watercolour, acrylics and for those that want oils. Mike will take into account that some people may have more experience than others.

The classes are open to all and an upfront cost of £36 for the first 3 classes is requested followed by payments of £12 on the door for remaining classes.
